Calacatta Viola is the difficult one. Its violet and oxblood veining runs unpredictably through white stone, which makes it beautiful and makes it wasteful to cut; a block yields far less usable stone than it promises. Ours gave us fourteen bowls, and there will be no more in this stone. The same cool, weighted bowl as the Verde, in a marble that asks to be looked at.

Care & handling
- Hand wash with warm water and a mild, unscented soap. Not dishwasher safe.
- Not microwave or freezer safe — thermal shock can crack natural stone.
- Dry after washing. Re-seal with a food-safe stone sealant every six to twelve months.
- Natural marble varies. The veining on your bowl will not match the photograph exactly, which is rather the point.
- A feeding bowl, not a chew toy. Stone will chip if dropped or gnawed.
